I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card, but I'm not exactly a tech wiz. I don't really want to jump into buying something before making sure its compatible. I have a Dimension 8300 that currently has a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200. Looking to spend anywhere from 1-200$ for an upgrade, any assistance is greatly appreciated.

The only kinds of Graphics Cards your motherboard supports are AGP and PCI. You need to look for one with either expansion bus. PCI would be more recommended. Here's an example of one of the best cards you'd be looking at in that price range:
