What does the 256mb mean on a graphics card? How do I compare Radeon & GeForce & what cards are best to worst?

256mb is the amount of dedicated, onboard video memory that is on the video card.

As far as comparing which is best, it all depends on the game you are playing.

Here is a link to a site that allows you to compare cards based on several different applications and games.

Oh. Sorry about the link, forgot a "w"... Here is the correct one: http://www23.tomshardware.com/... Report Abuse

Reply:That shows how much video ram is on your graphics card. 256 Mb is suitable currently for small monitors (1280 by 1024 resolution, for example).

I like the nvidia geforce series.
