I need a new graphics card and my laptop only has a x1 size pci express port.

You are confusing express port with pci-express SLOT. http://www.pericom.com/products/pci/


The port is a pci to pci express PORT. That means it can use pci cards NOT pci-express slot cards.

Oops, it's not a GeForce card...you probably won't find a real good card for a PCI Express 1x slot.
