What does intel make graphics cards that don't work with anything?

why would intel make a graphics card that sucks and does not work with a game that is 3 years older than the computer. and why would gateway put it in the damn computer itself?

crap, when i got this i thought i could play games, because i have 256mb shared video ram and 2gigs of system ram, with a very fast cpu.

i cannot even play battlefield 1942 without it screwing up, due to the graphics card.

could it be an compability issue with windows vista?

Vista is the problem...most of the game video drivers have not been optimized for Vista...and any of the older games (say about a years ago or so) you can probably forget having them ever work right with Vista.
Reply:Integrated graphics adapters ( those on the motherboard) are almost always substandard to a add-on graphics card.

Gateway does it because it's cheaper for them.

and it could very well be an issue with Windows Vista also
Reply:To keep costs down, computer makers will put in basic components, just good enough to run Windows. This way they can charge you more when you request custom parts (such as a video card).
