What sort of graphics card is in the ps3 in terms of desctop pc cards?

i know the ps3 has a custom card but what is it like in terms of desktop pc's?

What sort of graphics card is in the ps3 in terms of desctop pc cards?
I believe its closest match is a Geforce 7800GTX slighty modified in terms of clock and memory speed.

"In August of 2005, an nVidia spokesperson was quoted in PlayStation Magazine as saying "the RSX GPU is basically a slightly less powerful GeForce 7800" [[10]] According to Nvidia the RSX have higher clock rate than a 7800GTX but at the same time possess only half the memory bus width thus resulting in a less powerful card.[3]"
Reply:the PS3 gpu based off of a 7900GS modified , pc is always going to be better, that is why they are more expensive, PS3 and Xbox dont have a chance to run crysis. My core 2 duo setup can run crysis at decent FPS.
Reply:all i know is that it is a nvidia card and it was made before the 8800 cards came out.so it is slower than the 8800's.
Reply:the PS3's RSX graphics card is the arch type for up coming Nivida cards. there is no comparable one now but wait until the nivida 10000 series comes out.
Reply:there is not a comparable pc video card. the thing is a monster...
Reply:its based on nvidia G70
