The main difference is the bus speed at which the cards work for processing and displaying graphics. Obviously if you are a serious gamer then an AGP card is more suitable as it operates at a much faster speed. PCI graphics cards are somewhat obsolete now.

AGP graphics cards use an AGP slot on your motherboard. This type of slot is optimized for data throughput. Many modern graphics cards shift huge amounts of data to the graphics cards, agp slots can take more data and so are generally faster.
