Graphics cards?

Well, when i was going to play my game, it said that i need a graphics card.. but i already have one.. Did it stop working or something? i was thinking about downloading one... but can i just download any graphics card, or do i need a specific one? Also, how can i check what is my current graphics card model or whatever?

1. To determine which video card you have you can do the following:





XP: Right click on the desktop| Click on Properties| Display


Vista: Right click on the desktop | Click on Personalize| Display





Also can be found by right clicking on My Computer | Properties | Hardware Tab | Device Manager.





2. It would help to know what game you are trying to play so we could see if it is compatible.





If you system is the VT4000 (without any extra letters on the end) you will have one of 2 video card chips.

3. You can download drivers, but not an actual video card.

Reply:Go to www.download.com and search for the program, PC Wizard 2008. Install it. That'll tell you everything you need to know about your hardware.





You cannot download a new graphics card, you will have to buy one and install it. www.newegg.com for parts. You can, however, download an updated DRIVER for your CURRENT video card, by going to ati.com or nvidia.com (depending on which type of card you have).
Reply:A graphics card isn't something that you can download, it's something that you have to buy. It's a piece of HARDWARE, not software.





The graphics card that you are most likely using is an integrated graphics card. It's not nearly enough for any high end games. You'll have to buy a new one and put it in your motherboard.
Reply:ok lol, a graphics card isnt something you can just download off the internet. Its and ACTUAL piece of your computer. It says you need a graphics card because the game you are playing requires a better graphics card than the one that you already have so that the quality of the game will be good and not dissorted. Sometimes the games require a really good graphics card to play, and if you dont have one, the game wont play at all





Basically your current graphics card sucks. You need to buy one and get it installed in your comptuer. get a 256MB ATI® Radeon™ HD 2600 XT or something in the line of that or with a 256 memory because most games can play with that much memory. You can get it for super cheap on eBay or if u want to sped like 200 at Best Buy or Future Shop, you can do that too.
Reply:First off, you can't download a graphics card. It's a piece of hardware that should've come with your laptop. I don't think you can upgrade if its a laptop either.
