Ive bought a fairly new pc the e521 but can i have 2 graphics cards?

i had a free pci-e slot which is now used with the graphics card.





A computer engineer had a look and said i could crossfire my graphics card how??? i dont have anymore pci-e slots that i can see i only have pci slots left

If you goal is to go with a dual monitor setup then you could either get a pci-e graphic card that supports two monitors (it will have two outputs on it) or you could use the pci slot for a pci graphics card.
Reply:crossfire only works for 2 identical slots.


the cards have to be next to each other to make the connection with the crossfire plug. Its a bandwidth issue more than anything.





If your motherboard is sli or crossfire ready, then yes it can be done, but what you describe, no it cant be done.

They seem to hand out alot of advice that doesnt pan out.
Reply:if you don't have any more Pci-e slot you can't crossfire. Period. Must have two slots. Now there is an incredibly new ATI card coming out that technically has two gpu on one card which they are calling "single card crossfire" but this can't be what he was refering to. you either...have another pci slot that your not noticing or he's a bad computer engineer. Actually i just checked the dell website and the e530 which appears to be the newer version of the 521. Only has one pci-e x16 slot....meaning you cannot crossfire...could upgrade to a better card though.
