Can I SLI two different graphics cards?

I have an Nvidia 7600 gtx graphics card.

Do I have to use another Nvidia 7600 if I want to use the SLI feature? Or could I use a more powerful card?

Can I SLI two different graphics cards?
hi mate

no,you need to use 2 of the same type of card, for example your current card the 7600gt(there isnt a 7600gtx)you need to get another 7600gt,it can be made by another manufacturer but it has to be the same card

in terms of performance you should get around 50% better performance than using a single card, however this also depends on two other factors, your memory(ram) and of course the processor

another option is using the nvidia geforce 7950GX2,this is basically a sli unit built into one card, which means when using two of these its effectively quad graphics

im not sure if nvidia have drivers for a quad configuration, and even if they do its a pretty technical procedure and shouldnt be undertaken by novices

for more information take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalable_Li...

good luck mate !
Reply:No, has to be the same kind of card, cant mix and match the GPU with SLI.
Reply:Always same GPU even if different brand or speed.
