What are some good, cheap graphics cards?

On our computer, we have a slow graphics card. It is a NVidia GeForce FX 5200. Can anyone recommend any good, cheap graphics cards? I would prefer NVidia.

what's your budget? if you want something decent like the 8600gt, you'll need around $100
Reply:$100.00 = XFX 8600GT XXX - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...

$219.99 = EVGA 8800GT - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...

$259.99 = BFG 8800GTS OC 512MB - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...

All of these cards come with mail in rebates too if you get them from Tigerdirect, and you can save an additional $30-50 off of the listed prices.

For the most bang for your buck, I recommend the 8800GTS 512MB for $259.99, or the 8800GT for $219.99. However, the 8800GT and GTS models require a somewhat hefty power supply, like minimum of 450W just to be safe. The 8800GTS 512MB is what I currently use, and I have used the 8600GT, the 8800GT, and now the 8800GTS 512MB cards, and it is by far the fastest and most worthwhile for me.

However, if you are after something very cheap that still offers quite decent performance in the latest games, look no further than the 8600GT. It was a very good card for me, I was able to run Call of Duty 4 on Medium settings at a smooth framerate and high resolution, which is saying a lot for a card that cheap.

For $100, you can't go wrong, and I fully recommend it if you're not looking for the top graphics in the latest games, but a nice and reliable DX10 that can run everything out at modest settings and pack a serious punch.
