What happens if I stick 2 graphics cards in my computer?

I just saw an Alien pc with 2 graphics cards in it..is it possible to do this on my dell? and get some high performance or somthign? Its uber dragging I think I need to upgrade the ram..how much does this cost also

What happens if I stick 2 graphics cards in my computer?
If you want your computer to run faster, try either:

- Upgrading just the regular memory, such as adding an additional 512MB or 1GB of RAM (the cheapest method)

- Upgrading the CPU Processor to something newer your motherboard supports (slightly more expensive)

- Upgrading your Graphics Card to the best one your computer can support -- this will ONLY ugprade your gaming/graphics experience (most expensive)

- Buying a whole new set of motherboard + CPU + memory + graphics card -- or just buying a new computer (overly expensive)

If you want to make your games run faster:

- Upgrade your memory [read above] (least expensive)

- Upgrade your graphics card [read above] (more expensive)

If you simply want to try and put two graphics cards togeher, know that;

1. It will only benefit your gaming experience by a little bit, in comparison to getting a whole NEW good quality graphics card your computer can handle.

2. It will allow you to use two monitors together.

3. It will require you to either have 2+ AGP slots or 2+ PCI (or PCI-E) slots or an AGP and a PCI (PCI-E) slot.

4. Your computer wont blow up or anything like that, it will simply use both of the graphics cards.

5. If you want supremely maximum graphics performance, after upgrading your computer with memory + processor, you can install TWO very expensive good quality graphics cards and run them "as one" using SLI (NVidia)
Reply:dont waste your $ on 2 graphix cards upgrade your ram

but if you dont have a g card it will help also think about a sound card
Reply:Dell computer will lock up if u install hardware without their concern.

Thats the gimmick of Dull.. i mean Dell..

Cheap but u cant modify it.
Reply:only if you have a pc with two agp slots or two pci-express slots.

on nvidia it's called SLI

and on ati - crossfire.
Reply:First of all you need to have a PC that is either using Nvidias SLi 3 or 4 chipset or intels 975 Xpress Chipset. Then You can go buy two GFX PCi-Express cards of the same make and model and stick both in two PCi-Express Slots. The Result ?

More GAMING , more shader pipelines = better graphics. More Speed and less reason for overclocking.

Incase you are not interested in gaming , other 3D apps like AutoCad and 3D max rendering time will be decreased by half.
Reply:Computer will say good bye to you
Reply:You need an SLI motherboard to do that.

it use Nvidia Chipset.
Reply:if it fits two video cards then u can use two moniters

more ram never hurts
